It's that time of year
again. Time to take inventory. Do the kid's
boots fit? Can you find their socks? How about
their helmet? Are their goggles all scratched
up? Jackets, pants, long underwear? You know the
drill. Soccer is winding down, the nights are getting
colder, and the leaves are falling off the trees.
Don't worry about it; they'll blow into the neighbors yard
anyway. There has to be something the kids
need...or you. It's your turn isn't it? Bring
the kids, bring their equipment, bring their DS to keep them
occupied. Let us help you figure it all out. If
there is anything you need at all, our prices are better
than at the mountain. We so confident we have the best
prices, we guarantee it. We will meet or beat any
identical in stock item sold by any local retailer AND and
online store! Bring us any verifiable quote on
available, current model year, in-stock between now and the
end of January and we will meet or beat it. It's as
simple as that.
Junior lease packages start at only
$99. Pick them up now and drop them off at the end of
the season for only $99. Junior ski packages start at
only $149. Add boots to the package from only $80 AND

Eulogy to the Wilmington Store.
Back around 1962
our uncles, John and Mike, started selling skis in the bread
isle of Elias Country Store in Wilmington, MA. It grew
to need its own space, so in 1965 Ski Haus was founded in
the little 800 square foot building next door. Dad
started working nights and weekends, bringing Wayne and
Steve on Saturdays to shovel the walk and yell out back when
a customer came in.
Skiing really
took off around that time, so when a spacious 2000 square
foot spot opened up, we packed up the store and moved all
the way across the street between North Wilmington Pharmacy
and Ralph's barber shop. Business was good and the
whole family got involved. Merry and Michelle pitched
in. Mom started doing the books for her
brothers. Steve got the promotion to head floor picker
upper and Wayne to ski tuner and binding technician.
Then in 1977 we threw caution to
the wind and built a new building all the way across
town. It was gigantic and it was beautiful. Made
with enormous beams, salvaged from an old factory and
finished naturally with unfinished wood planks, it had an
aura from the day we opened the doors in 1977. To many
Ski Haus staffers, the Wilmington store was a second
home. A place you were welcomed with open arms and a
cold beer. A place Mom didn't yell at you for putting
your feet up on the furniture. A place you could get
paid for something you actually loved. Many of us met
and married while working there. It's where
"Bullet" met Anne, Billy met Karen, Wayne met
Kelly, "Woody" met Lisa, and Steve met
Jacqui. All old people now and all still
married. It's where skiers picking up their boards
spotted shoppers trying on stretch pants and made lives
together.
Sadly, the
renovation of our Salem, NH store in 2004 couldn't have come
a t a worse time. Dad passed in the fall of '05 and
Uncle John and Uncle Mike decided it was time to get their
affairs in order. We'd just put any credit and lose
change we had into the new building. To make matters
worse, the nursing home that abutted the shop had a surplus
of parking, a shortage of beds, deep pockets, and a need to
spend money to avoid capital gains taxes.
We were asked to
leave in April and can honestly say, have never been thrown
out of a nicer place. That beautiful post and beam ski
shop fell to another assisted living facility. The
smell of P-Tex and melting ski wax would be replaced by the
stench of cleaning solutions, green beans, and waterlogged
overcooked peas.
While this has
been far and away the biggest change since uncle John
retired some 20 years ago, we've seen lots of subtle changes
that have changed the way we operate. Our customer
base has shifted geographically. We do a lot more snowboard
business than we did 10 years ago, and we found a nice
little niche in the casual furniture business that holds us
over during the summer months. It isn't ski, but it
sure does help pay the expenses while we're scanning the
Farmers Almanac, watching ski movies, and drooling over the
next years equipment as it arrives.
Our search for a
new spot came up empty for this season. The available
spaces were a little too small or too far from the beaten
track. They didn't fit our floor plan needs, or were
just more than we could afford and till keep our prices competitive.
Maybe it was simply that we were missing our old digs.
We grew up there. It's like you've lived there your
whole life and now you have to move. Maybe we
were too picky. Maybe we were still in mourning of the
place that became home to many (boy did we give her a great
send off.)
We know we're
going to have to settle. (Hey, every 4 or 8 years
there's a guy moving out of a pretty cool house in
Washington. I'm sure he's not moving into a studio apartment,
but it surely isn't the same.) So we're going to have
to find our new Boston Garden. It will never be Fenway
Park and no matter how many banners we put up from the old
place. It'll take some time to hoist a new banner or
two. It'll take some time to settle in with a few cold
ones and even a wedding or two. Don't get me wrong;
it's never going to be the old store with all the ghosts and
memories, but remember when the Pat's moved out of Shafer
Stadium and into Gillette? It didn't take long to get
used to the nice seats with the cup holders and nice clean
bathrooms. Clean bathrooms and cup
holders...what a great idea.
If you do happen
to need anything new, this is the best time to buy.
Junior packages start at $149 AND we'll give you 50% back
next year in trade or 25% in two years. Junior lease
equipment is ready to go starting at only $99 for the entire
season. Now is the time to get
here and check it out, beat the crowds, AND get the deals
before everyone else.

We, like you, love to
ski. We love to talk about skiing and hear all the
stories you have about your experiences. Our staff will steer you in the right direction for the
perfect pair of skis, or the perfect parka and pants.
They might even get you in the most comfortable pair of boots
you have ever owned. Maybe they even custom fit your old
boots to make room for that bone spur on your left heel.
The
most important thing we do is make you comfortable out on
the slopes (or in the lodge).
Of course you know what we do all
winter. It says it right in our name. You might
not know, however, that we have the largest selection of patio
furniture and accessories in the area. From hammocks, to
umbrellas; cushions, patio heaters, to full sets, we've got
just what you're looking for. Come on in and pull up a
chair. Take your time and pick out the perfect set for
your needs.
We have
the largest selection around of furniture from brands like
Suncoast, Telescope, Tropitone, Woodard, Lane Venture, O.W.
Lee, Kingsley Bate, Gloster, Regal Teak, Homecrest, Lyon
Shaw, and many others all at least 20% off our already
discounted pricing. It is worth the trip to see the
selection we have in stock. Our in stock furniture is
not the cookie cutter white frame with a blue sling you see
everywhere. We do have some basics, but most of our
selection is different. Difficult to describe, but definitely
worth the trip to see. Don't see what you like.
Order anything you want exactly the way you want it, and
we'll deliver it free within our delivery area as soon as it
arrives.
